Why you should always use a member of the National Guild of
Removers
Guild Members
offer the best consumer protection package in the removals
industry. These measures are designed to promote quality,
protect your belongings and take the stress out of your
move.
One such measure is compulsory membership to the Removals
Industry Ombudsman Scheme
The Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme has been established
to provide the removals industry with an independent service
to resolve disputes between member companies and their
clients, both domestic consumers and commercial
organisations, if the conciliation service provided by the
National Guild of Removers & Storers has not produced a
satisfactory conclusion.
The Scheme is managed by an independent Committee, and it
has appointed an Ombudsman, Lynne Stone, who has no
connection with the industry.
Complaints are investigated free of charge.
The Scheme is a full member of the British and Irish
Ombudsman Association (BIOA) and the Association's criteria
for recognition have been fulfilled: independence of the
Ombudsman from those whom she has power to investigate;
effectiveness; fairness; and accountability.

Helpful Advice - Packing
Don't leave hardly any packing to the day before the move. Consider
what you don't need to take with you, what will need careful
packing, and that you are covered for potential breakages.
• Make a priority packing list
• Go through your belongings and try to clear-out unwanted items.
There is bound to be a charity shop on your local High street that
would be really happy to receive your donation or, if you have the
time, hold a car boot sale. The proceeds could go towards
re-decorating your new home.
• Calculate how many boxes you will need. Careful Kelly Removals
Ealing provide boxes in a variety of sizes along with just about
everything else you’ll need such as tape and bubble wrap.
Removal companies in Ealing
also suggest you save old newspapers for lining boxes and wrapping.
• Don't completely fill large boxes, as they will be too heavy to
move.
• Check that your contents insurance will cover damage and breakages
during the move.
• Put all hazardous materials, such as paint, bleach and aerosols,
into a separate box and keep them isolated from your other items
Think ahead
You won't be able to unpack everything in the first day, so consider
what you might need easy access to soon after you cross the
threshold of your new home.
• Pack an 'essentials' box for the first night including items such
as tea, coffee, plates, cutlery and a kettle, toilet paper and
toiletries.
• Do your laundry before you move. You’ll have enough to do without
this on arrival at your new home
• Load the boxes containing items you need the least first. |
